Man pleads guilty in Missoula, Miles City homicides
BILLINGS, Mont. - The man charged with killing two people and stabbing another pleaded guilty in two Montana courts this week.
Missoula Chief Deputy County Attorney Jason Marks said Scott Austin Price pleaded guilty Tuesday to five felony counts in Missoula County District Court: deliberate homicide, attempted deliberate homicide, conspiracy to commit aggravated kidnapping, tampering with evidence and solicitation to commit theft. Marks said three of the charges each carry up to a life sentence.
Sentencing is set for December 12.
Custer County Attorney Wyatt Glade said Price appeared in Custer County court Monday via video from Missoula. Glade said Price pleaded guilty to two of five felony charges: aggravated kidnapping and deliberate homicide.
Glade said, in a plea agreement, Price's other three charges will be dismissed by a judge at sentencing. Glade said the state is recommending a life sentence on each count, plus 10 years on the deliberate homicide charge for the use of a weapon. Glade said they are not recommending parole restrictions.
Glade said the Montana Attorney General's Office assisted the county attorney during this case. He said the plea agreement was reached with the Martin family's blessing.
Sentencing is set for December 5.
On December 14, Price fatally stabbed 78-year-old Ed Martin in Miles City and attacked Martin's wife. Just days later on December 21, Price stabbed a woman outside a Missoula grocery store and fatally stabbed 56-year-old Lonette Keehner in a hotel.
